NERO TRIGGER2-capture

CONCLUSION

I was hoping to have a large write up of the lightning mode this week, alas no lightning, so I knocked up a little bit of black powder and ignited it via an electric trigger, as I expected the Nerotrigger worked like a charm once I had got the correct sensitivity settings. I've included one of the shots just for the record, it's not brilliant but don't blame the gadget, it performed admirably, it was the photographer who was a bit flakey.

I've been playing with the Nerotrigger for a few weeks now and I suspect you might have guessed that I'm rather impressed with it, however in the spirit of all reviews I felt I should summarise my thoughts.

So here are my Pros and Cons of the Nerotrigger, these are purely my own opinions and thoughts.

Pros

  • Lightweight and portable
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to read LCD in good light
  • Very easy to use
  • Versatile: one small unit so many uses
  • Very easy to use
  • Free cables
  • Not complicated to use at all
  • Fast, free shipping
  • Intuitive interface making usage a cinch
  • A variety of colours to suit all tastes
  • Childs play to use
  • Relatively cheap, especially for the amount of different triggers on the gadget
  • Did I mention that it's very easy to use

Cons

  • LCD not easy to read in strong sunlight (But then show me one that is)
  • At the time of writing no connections for Olympus. I've no idea of any of plans to change this and only mention it as I would have liked to use my Oly XZ-1 with it as well. That really would have made a dream combination for me with regards to portability.
  • Short cables if you do need to connect to camera or have the flash some distance from the unit itself (Hey, they are supplied  free you know, buy another for a few pennies from Amazon or Ebay)

If you're looking for a trigger release to add another dimension to your photography, you will not be disappointed by the Nerotrigger. If you ever felt that you didn't need or want a trigger release because of a perceived complexity of the systems then the Nerotrigger's uncomplicated interface and ease of use will undoubtedly make you change your mind.

There are other systems out there such as the Camera Axe, (I haven't used this) and the Triggersmart (which I have used and will continue to do so as it is slightly different to the Nerotrigger) Each of the systems have their own characteristics, strong points and weaker points, but if pushed to recommend a trigger for a learner or newcomer to high speed photography or remote release work and who doesn't want to invest a fortune, I would not hesitate in pointing them to Nerotrigger.com. This gadget ticks all the boxes and I envisage that the nerotrigger will be a staple of my photography and a fixture in my camera bag for a long time to come. The developers should be proud of this great little gadget.

If pushed to give a score: 9/10

A couple to sign off on, one with the lightning mode and a wine bottle shot with a 10mm ball bearing from a slingshot and triggered in the sound mode.

Flash Wine Bottle

Just a reminder to everybody, I always wear safety specs when using my air-gun and more recently the slingshot. Please, please do not try this type of photography without taking the necessary safety precautions. You only have one pair of eyes and your photography will be severely limited without them

Hi

Sorry for the delay in replying, I've not been about for a few days. I'm currently unaware of local stockists where you can buy directly. All I know is that it's available from the Nerotrigger website. It is free delivery and quite honestly if you want one I can highly recommend it despite import costs etc.

Just get the unit from Nerotrigger, after an hour or so of using the unit you'll be pleased you did.

Hi Graham,

I'm from Portugal and I'm thinking to buy this trigger.
Where have you buy yours? Is there any online store in europe, to avoid to pay the import taxes?

Thanks
